Cloud-Based Video Editing Platform WeVideo launches Today

On-line video is the fastest growing media type in history, and for good reasons. There’s nothing more powerful than video to capture the moment and tell the story – whether it is personal, business or professional.”

WeVideo, cloud based video editing platform, which anounced integration with YouTube couple of months ago, exited their beta period today (started in fall of 2011) and officialy launched for commercial use.

“WeVideo is redefining video editing relative to both traditional desktop and newer online video-editing offerings. By taking our solution to the cloud and delivering it via the Internet browser of your smartphone, tablet or computer, we are unlocking new areas of potential such as social editing and collaboration and the ability to create and share videos “in the moment” (vs. waiting until you are back at your desktop computer).”

Some innovating features they are bringing to the table are real time rendering, providing multi-layer playback in the browser, social editing, which gives you possibility to edit or co-create videos with your  friends and co-workers and of course performance and flexibility, since, after all, this is a cloud based platform.

Signing up and opening account is free, and it gives you some basic (1GB) storage and a possibility to fully test this service. Paying monthly subscription gives you better video export quality and more storage space, and it scales up with the subscription plan. For more details check this link. They also announced Enterprise version which will allow organizations to integrate WeVideo into their existing products or services with their own branding, full API support, with centralized sharing and full admin controls.

CEO Jostein Svendsen announced that their predictions are that the company will have 1 milion users till the end of 2012, which is a realistic goal since they already have 125.000 users and 1000 new videos crated per day.
